Kim WoodrowA note from the Head - Mrs Kim Woodrow

Why did I come to Stoodley Knowle School? It is summed up in one word – passion.

The hidden gem of Stoodley called out to me: delightful children; a caring ethos with staff who are highly professional; outstanding results; parents who are genuinely committed to our School’s success, and the location is just idyllic – I cannot think of a more perfect environment in which to educate your daughters.

After 30 years of teaching, I am as passionate about learning and teaching as I was when I joined the profession, and I am committed to ensuring and building upon the current successes for your children, both academically and in their extra curricular experiences. Every Child Matters and I want every child to leave Stoodley with a love of learning, equipped to deal with the new and exciting challenges that will face them - often being asked to solve problems that don’t exist today using technologies that haven’t even been invented, preparing them to take up their chosen roles in our increasingly diverse society, as confident young women.

Born in Manchester, both my parents were head teachers. After my Honours Degree in Chemistry at UMIST I was privileged to be invited back to teach Sciences and Religious Education in my own Catholic Convent School, and from there I have gone from strength to strength working in a variety of highly successful schools, culminating in gaining my recent NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship).

My door is always open, and being a non-selective school, our doors are always open. I welcome all contact from both current and prospective parents. I realise what an important decision is made when you send your daughters to an independent school, both financially and educationally; I recognise the importance of good communication and I will ensure that you are kept informed of their progress every step of the journey.

In my spare time, I enjoy many activities including keep fit, skiing, sailing, DIY (my husband always finds me some challenging jobs to do!), bridge and reading. My own children have recently gone to University and I fully appreciate how important it was to have the commitment and support from the school so that they secured their first choice. Here at Stoodley, we will support you and your children through each step to ensure that everyone reaches or exceeds their aspirations.

I look forward to meeting you and making you feel welcome at our beautiful school.
